Cooch Behar, 21st January: Sensation ensued in Cooch Behar’s Tufanganj National Highway in the Chilakhana area after a head-on collision between a lorry and a pickup van claimed the life of one and injured another. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Vishwas while the injured has been identified as Ajay Mahato, both are residents of Raiganj in Uttar Dinajpur.
Reportedly, today a pickup van heading from Raiganj was going towards Tufanganj. On the other hand, a lorry coming from Tufanganj towards Coochbehar collided with the said pickup van in the Chilkhana area. The driver and helper of the pickup van were seriously injured in the incident.
After the incident, the locals recovered the injured and took them to Tufanganj Departmental Hospital, where the doctors declared the driver Sanjay Vishwas brought dead. At the same time, assistant driver Ajay Mahato is being treated at Tufanganj Divisional Hospital.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver and the helper fled after the incident. On receiving the information about the incident, the Tufanganj police reached the spot and started investigating the entire incident.
