Haryani Snatch-and-Run Gang Case Update: Remand period extended by two days after TI parade of 6 accused in Siliguri

Siliguri, 1st June: The TI parade of 6 active gang members who were arrested from Siliguri Junction Railway Station on the 20th of May, on charges of extortion and theft, has been successfully completed. According to sources, the complainants have identified the accused. The arrested accused are Ajay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Satyaban, Rajbir, Vijender, and Sandeep, all residents of Haryana.


According to reports, following the TI parade from the 21st to the 30th, today, all the accused were produced before the Siliguri Court once again. In this regard, the judge directed for additional remand of two days. According to Government Railway Police (GRP) sources, further interrogation of the accused will be done in this extended remand.

Notably, several cases of theft had been reported by passengers from Siliguri Junction Railway Station. Acting on the complaints, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) launched a joint operation and exposed the gang of miscreants involved in cases of theft and snatching. The operation was undertaken based on CCTV footage, in which few miscreants were seen keeping an eye on passengers deboarding the Capital Express Train. According to the information, this gang was functional all over West Bengal. They targeted travellers by posing as co-passengers at several railway stations.
