Haldia gas cylinder manufacturing factory closed without prior notice, workers approach administration

Siliguri, 14th December: The Haldia gas cylinder manufacturing factory in Fulbari No. 1 region has been closed due to frequent disagreement between owner and employees. As a result, 158 workers have lost their jobs.

It has been learned that the authorities closed the factory without any prior discussion. As a result, the factory workers and their families are facing extreme trouble. Despite repeated requests for discussions, the factory authorities are apparently not attending to the workers union. Hence, they approached the administration.

A memorandum was handed over to the NJP police station on behalf of the Trinamool Congress-approved workers’ union. The president of the organization, Yanur Haque Munsi, said that if the factory is not re-opened soon, they would launch a larger movement in front of Uttar Kanya demanding the intervention of the Chief minister.
