Darjeeling, 02nd September: Seeking permanency of their post, the temporary employees employed in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) are observing complete pen-down strike today demanding the regularisation of more than 4,000 casual workers.
The employees, who form over 90 percent of the GTA workforce, under the banner of United Employees’ Association are demonstrating in all the offices under GTA area. The protest is said to continue until their demands are met.
Likewise, in Kalimpong district too, temporary employees of GTA are observing the pen down strike from today.
Meanwhile, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Binay faction has also extended its support to the workers’ demands.
