GTA sets up 100 bedded COVID-19 Hospital in Triveni

Kalimpong, 19th May: As the positive cases of COVID-19 continue to mount up across the country, the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) has been working relentlessly to combat the pandemic. From swab tests to Sanjeevni Swastha Seva, various efforts are being made by the GTA.

Such an effort was made to set up a dedicated 100 bedded COVID-19 Hospital in Triveni under Kalimpong district, about 53 km from Siliguri. The site has been identified for a COVID-19 Hospital as it is in an isolated location.

Anit Thapa, the GTA Chairman, while addressing the media on Tuesday, expressed his gratitude towards the state government for helping them set up the COVID-19 Hospital amid the ongoing pandemic. He maintained that the hospital is scheduled to open by the first week of the coming month.

Thapa emphasized the importance of the COVID-19 Hospital as various migrant workers and students are now being brought back to their native towns. “We cannot bar them from returning to the Hills as they are suffering from being stranded in other states amid the lockdown,” the GTA Chairman added.

While the GTA is working day in and day out in the fight against the deadly virus, Thapa appealed to the hoteliers in the GTA region to come forward and assist them to set up quarantine centers for those asymptomatic people who are waiting for their test results. He further applauded two Darjeeling hotel owners for providing their hotels for free as a quarantine center amid such a crisis.
