GRP seize 13 kilograms of cannabis from the Sikkim Mahananda Express, one arrested

Siliguri, 17th March: In a significant breakthrough, the Government Railway Police (GRP) stationed at Siliguri Junction apprehended an individual in possession of a staggering 13 kilograms of cannabis aboard the Sikkim Mahananda Express. The accused has been identified as Kachidul Sheikh (48), a resident of Dinajpur.


According to the GRP sources, a security operation was underway on platform number three of Junction Railway Station specifically targeting the Sikkim Mahananda Express. During the inspection, the authorities found a substantial stash of cannabis concealed within a bag. Subsequently, the bag’s owner, Kachidul Sheikh, was immediately put under arrest by the GRP personnel.

Following this, the GRP filed a case against the suspect under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and presented him in the Siliguri court to swiftly initiate legal proceedings.
