Siliguri, 04th August: A burglary at a grocery shop in Siliguri’s Ektiasal Haat late Sunday night has triggered concern among locals.
The theft came to light on Monday morning when the shop owner opened the store and discovered the break-in. Burglars reportedly entered by cutting through the tin roof and fled with ₹5,000 in cash along with various goods.
The total estimated loss is said to be over ₹1 lakh, according to the shopkeeper.
Upon receiving information, police from the Ashighar Outpost reached the spot and began an investigation.
Notably, the same shop was targeted in a similar burglary three years ago. Locals have now raised questions about the effectiveness of security measures in the area.
