GNLF Vice-president Keshav Chandra Lama passes away at 80 in Darjeeling

Darjeeling, 22nd April: Keshav Chandra Lama, central vice-president of Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) and former vice-president of the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC), died at the age of 80 this morning at a hospital in Darjeeling. His demise has made left a deep impact on the GNLF party. His last rites will be performed at Teesta valley’s Mane Dara tomorrow.


It is to recall, Keshav Chandra Lama was a powerful leader and was actively involved in the Gorkhaland movement of 1986 in Darjeeling hills. He has been with the party since the beginning of GNLF and held the prestigious post of Central General Secretary and then Vice-Chairman after the formation of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC).

He was a close aide of the late Subash Ghising, the founding chairman of GNLF. Through his political experience, he continued to give advice and guidance to GNLF until his last breath. The party’s leaders and supporters have offered their deepest condolences on his death.
