Siliguri, 27th January: In a significant breakthrough, the Police have also arrested the fourth accused in connection to the gang rape of a girl in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as Abhijit Roy.
It has to be noted that on January 20, five youths allegedly gang-raped a girl who was alone at her house. The following day, three youths once again repeated the heinous act on the girl. However, the locals learned of the incident, apprehended the three youths, and handed them over to the Ashighar Outpost police. Subsequently, the police produced the accused in the court and took them on remand. Meanwhile, the search was on to nab two more accused involved in the incident.
Reportedly, on Friday night, six days after the incident, the fourth accused Abhijit Roy was arrested. On Saturday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court. At present, the police are on a hunt to apprehend the fifth accused involved in the incident.
