Siliguri, 09th July: The seven-day Rath Yatra Utsav organised by the Ghogomali Netaji Bazar Rath Yatra Committee began with a ‘Khutti Puja’ ceremony at the Ghogomali School ground. The festival has entered its 40th year.
Rath Yatra Committee President Kamal Ghosh said that this year’s Rath Yatra Utsav will be celebrated with grandeur over seven days. Various arrangements, including a giant wheel and entertainment activities for children, have been planned.
He added that several stalls, including shops featuring decorative items for women, will also be set up during the festival.
According to the committee, the chariot of Lord Jagannath will begin its journey from the Ghogomali School ground and travel up to Ashighar More before returning through the same route.
The ‘Khutti Puja’ ceremony was attended by Ghogomali Netaji Bazar Committee Secretary Nitai Saha, other committee members, and local residents.
