“Gaddar Nantu Paul” posters slammed across Siliguri

Siliguri, 30th November: Posters that read “Gaddar Nantu Paul aar Manjushree Paul ke dol e ar na” (We do not want betrayer Nantu Paul and Manjushree Paul in our party anymore) were spotted across the city on Tuesday morning. The incident has caused controversy in the political arena.

The posters have been put up in the name of Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress in important corners of the city including Hashmi Chowk, Mahatma Gandhi More and Vivekananda Market.

Incidentally, before the 2021 assembly elections, Nantu Paul and his wife Manjushree Paul left Trinamool Congress and joined BJP. Later, speculations surfaced regarding his return to his former party. Now, the posters spotted today has vented numerous controversy.

“I don’t want to speak in advance about returning to the party (TMC). I might contest the municipal elections as a BJP member. Time will speak where people will go,” Nantu Paul told the media.

On the other hand, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Papia Ghosh said, “If anyone uses the party’s banner for personal gain, we will take action. So far, Nantu Paul and his wife have not contacted me on returning to the party. The administration has been informed to investigate the matter.”
