Full bench of the Central Election Commission held a press conference in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th March: A full bench of the Central Election Commission held a press conference in Siliguri, on Wednesday, in view of the upcoming state assembly election.


The press conference was held at a hotel in Sukna, where Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora highlighted various facts regarding the polls. He said that the number of booths has been increased as compared to previous polls and all the polling will be held on the first floor of the designated booth. Besides, all processes will be completed in accordance with the COVID-19 rules.

Arora also said that the Election Commission is continuously monitoring the Election Observers. Apparently, an observer has already been suspended in the state for misbehaving with women workers. Besides, focus on districts with frequent reports of unrest have been initiated. If necessary, the special observers will be stationed in those areas too.


Incidentally, the full bench of the Election Commission held a meeting yesterday with the District Magistrates and police superintendents of 8 districts of North Bengal. Representatives of 11 more districts were also present in the video conference, where the election preparations, including all law and order, were discussed and examined. The Chief Election Commissioner also called on the leaders of all political parties to adhere to the COVID-19 safety measures.
