Siliguri, 08th July: Brazen theft at four shops in a single night created panic in the Ghogomali Bazar area under Ward No. 38 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
According to local sources, the theft took place late on Tuesday night. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when shop owners arrived to open their establishments and found the locks broken. They later discovered that four adjacent shops had been burgled.
Upon receiving the information, police from Ashighar Outpost rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Officials are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify those involved.
Traders claimed that cash was stolen from a hardware shop, while several expensive watches were taken from a nearby watch shop. Various items were also reported stolen from the other two shops.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced. According to police, a four-wheeler was seen parked near the spot for a considerable time around midnight, and investigators suspect the vehicle may be linked to the theft.
