Foundation stone laid for road construction ahead of Lok Sabha polls on the Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari

Kharibari, 16th March: Before the announcement of the dates for Lok Sabha polls, the foundation stone of a road was laid after 20 years in the Indo-Nepal border area of Kharibari.


On Saturday, Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh laid the foundation stone of the 1.3 km road under Pathashree scheme from Debiganj on the Indo-Nepal border to Dangu Jote under Binnabari Gram Panchayat of Kharibari.

Reportedly, the road has been in a dilapidated condition for almost 20 years. The construction work commenced with a budget of Rs 50 lakh and 79 thousand under the initiative of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad. The new development left the locals elated.


In this regard, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh mentioned that the area is connected to Nepal. He added that several other roads would be constructed in the coming days.
