Kalchini, 02nd March: Sensation prevailed in the area after a forest worker lost his life in a wild elephant attack in the Jayanti forest of Kalchini block. The deceased forest worker has been identified as Abdul Qayam Mian, a resident of Kartika Tea Estate. Reportedly, he was working in the Jayanti forest of the Buxa Tiger Reserve.
Local sources revealed that on Saturday, the forest worker went on duty at the Jayanti forest when an elephant attacked him. As a result, the worker succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Upon receiving the news, the officials of Kalchini police station arrived at the spot recovered the deceased body, and transported it to Alipurduar District Hospital for post-mortem examination.
