Alipurduar, 25th January: Acting on tip-off forest workers of Kamakhyaguri mobile range of Alipurduar’s Kamakhyaguri Bangla Chowpathi area recovered a huge amount of illegal sal wood before being smuggled. A vehicle has also been seized in the said incident. Along with this, a person has also been arrested.
The accused has been identified as Jadav Roy, a resident of the Tapsikhata area of the Alipurduar district. Reportedly, the forest workers acted promptly on Tuesday late at night. The stolen wood was being smuggled to Buxirhat in Cooch Behar, but the forest officials launched a campaign and recovered a huge quantity of illegal sal wood from the vehicle and arrested a person in the incident.
Today the accused has been produced in the Alipurduar court. The Forest Department is probing the entire incident.
