Forest officials hold meeting to curb wild animal deaths due to train hits

Chapramari, 05th January: In view of the increasing rate of wild animal deaths in train collisions, a meeting was held at Chapramari with Anshul Gupta, General Manager NF Railways and DRM Alipurduar.


General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway promised to take all steps and implement the order of Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court to curb animal mortality due to train hits. A report will also be submitted in this regard.


GM NF Railways also announced that one pilot project will be started next year in the area of Alipurduar Junction and mainly in Forest area regarding the use of sensors to avoid and prevent collision of wildlife with trains.

According to PCCF Vinod Kumar Yadav, an inspection was carried out with forest officers at sites prone to accidents.
