Football competition organized in Siliguri on Khela Hobe Diwas

Siliguri, 16th August: Apart from the entire state, Khela Hobe Diwas was also celebrated in Siliguri.


Under the initiative of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of the West Bengal Government and under the management of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, the day was observed at the grounds of Deshbandhupara Tarai Tarapada Adarsh ​​Vidyalaya. Inter-coaching camp football competitions were organized as part of the Khela Hobe Diwas celebrations.


SMC administrator Goutam Deb kick-started the programme today. He also published a book called ‘Puro Barta’ as a detailed report of the various works done by SMC. Besides, several former footballers of the city were felicitated today.

Teams from different coaching camps of wards 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 participated in today’s competition. Besides, a friendly football match was held between SMC and the Veterans Players Association.

Goutam Deb said, “Khela Diwas is being celebrated all over Bengal today. Team speed, unity, and harmony are built through sports. Hence, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has chosen sports.”

Apart from Deb, BoA member Ranjan Sarkar, Police Commissioner Gourav Sharma, and others were present at the programme.
