FM announces Rs. 1.7 lakh crore relief scheme for poor and migrant workers

New Delhi, 26th March: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during a press conference in Delhi on Thursday, announced a relief package for the poor and the migrant workers in light of the 21-day lockdown in the country to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the FM, a package worth 1.7 lakh crore rupees under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana has been ready for the poor who need immediate help like migrant workers and urban and rural poor. She emphasized, “no one will go hungry.”
50 lakh rupees per health care worker will be provided as a medical insurance that will cover them for three months.
