Five gang members involved in passenger extortion arrested at NJP station

Siliguri, 05th May: In a collaborative effort, the NJP police, GRP, and RPF successfully apprehended five members of a gang engaged in extorting passengers at stations and trains. The arrested individuals are identified as Mohammad Rahbar, Wahid, Mohammad Shohrab Alam, Mohammad Javed, and Mohammad Syed Alam, all residents of Araria in Bihar.


As per reports, the operation was carried out during a special security check conducted at NJP Railway Station on Saturday. The team recovered nine mobile phones from the five suspects, prompting a thorough interrogation. Further investigations by the GRP revealed their involvement in passenger extortion activities leading to the arrest.

On Sunday, all five accused were presented before the Jalpaiguri court. Meanwhile, the NJP police and GRP are engaged in a thorough investigation into the matter.
