Siliguri, 16th April: A sudden fire broke out on Wednesday night at the Public Works Department (PWD) office near Hospital More in Siliguri, triggering panic in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first seen coming out from a room on the terrace of the building. Within moments, the fire intensified and spread rapidly.
Locals immediately alerted the fire department. A fire engine reached the spot and began firefighting operations. After sustained efforts, the blaze was brought under control.
Officials said the affected room was being used as a storeroom, where air conditioning units, electrical wires, and other equipment were kept.
