Siliguri, 05th June: A sudden fire broke out at a house in the Arabinda Pally area of Siliguri on Friday afternoon, triggering panic in the locality.
According to eyewitnesses, smoke was seen emerging from inside the house, following which the fire spread rapidly, causing alarm among residents.
Local people immediately informed the fire department. Two fire engines were rushed to the spot, and firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after a prompt operation, averting a major incident.
Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in a washing machine, although the exact cause is yet to be confirmed and is under investigation.
No casualties have been reported in the incident. However, some household belongings are suspected to have been damaged due to the fire.
