Final Sunday campaign sees intense political activity across Siliguri ahead of Assembly polls

Siliguri, 19th April: With the Assembly elections approaching, political parties intensified their campaign efforts across Siliguri on the final Sunday before polling.

From early morning, the city witnessed vigorous campaigning by candidates of BJP, Trinamool Congress, and the CPI(M), all reaching out to voters through various means.

BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh carried out a bike rally in the morning and engaged with people across different localities along with party workers. He stated that while it may not be the last Sunday on the calendar, it is the final major opportunity for campaigning before the elections. He also mentioned trying to make up for lost campaign time due to a five-day fast.

On the other hand, TMC candidate Gautam Deb began his campaign with a morning walk, interacting with residents from parks to neighbourhoods. He continued his outreach on foot before planning to resume campaigning by vehicle later in the day. He said he was glad to connect directly with people despite the hectic schedule, adding that he barely had time to return home.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) candidate Saradindu Chakraborty was also seen campaigning on foot in various areas. He claimed to be receiving a strong response from the public, stating that many youths and general voters were expressing support.
