Excise Department raid in Siliguri, woman arrested from a flat with Bhutanese liquor

Siliguri, 13th December: The Excise Department team launched an operation in a flat located in Siliguri’s Punjabi Para and arrested a woman with Bhutanese liquor. The arrested woman has been identified as Suman Jain. On Wednesday, Sujit Das, Additional Commissioner of Jalpaiguri Excise Division briefed the details of the raid through a press conference.


Reportedly, Additional Commissioner Sujit Das stated that the team received a tip-off regarding a woman from the Punjabi Para area transporting branded liquor from Bhutan and supplying it to various parties organized in Siliguri.

The officer added that, based on the information, the woman was contacted by posing as a buyer. Subsequently, they were called upon by the woman to arrive at her residence, which prompted the arrest. Following the arrest, a huge quantity of Bhutanese liquor was seized from the woman’s residence and car. In addition, the woman’s car was also seized. The accused is likely to be produced before the Jalpaiguri Court on Thursday.
