Elephants targets a temple in Bagdogra, priest narrowly escapes death

Bagdogra, 10th January: Wild elephants created a ruckus in the Jangli Baba temple located in the Bengdubi forest area of Bagdogra. Luckily, the priest of the temple narrowly escaped the attack. 


Reportedly, late Monday night, a herd of elephants attacked the storeroom where food items including rice and pulses offered in the temple were kept. On the other hand, the priests of the temple ran away with minor injuries. 


Apart from gobbling down the food items, the elephants vandalised the grills, windowpanes, TV of the temple. In this regard, the head priest of the temple Mahendra Malik stated that the idol of the main temple is fine. Never before had an elephant attacked the temple, he added. However, various things in the temple have been damaged in the rampage. The Forest Department is probing the matter.
