Siliguri, 07th March: In a disturbing turn of events, a 60-year-old man, identified as Dharanikanta Roy, was arrested on charges of raping the 15-year-old granddaughter of his lover. The incident led to a widespread commotion in the area under the jurisdiction of the NJP police station.
As per details received, the victim’s maternal grandfather alleged that the accused Dharanikanta Roy engaged in adultery with his wife. During this, the accused began living with the victim’s grandmother in the residence. Meanwhile, the minor and her mother lived in the same residence with her grandmother. It has been alleged that the accused had been repeatedly raping the minor for the past two months.
However, the incident came to light on Wednesday when the minor’s mother questioned her daughter out of suspicion. The minor eventually disclosed the entire incident and the matter was reported to the police station. Upon investigating the incident based on the complaint, the police arrested the accused and subsequently produced him before the Jalpaiguri Court for further legal proceedings.
