Rajganj, 22nd October: An elderly man died in an elephant attack late Friday night in Devaniya Para village adjoining Baikunthpur forest of the Belakoba range. The deceased has been identified as Neelkant Oraon (60).
Reportedly, a wild elephant entered the said village on Friday night while Neelkant Oraon was sleeping. The elephant entered the house and attacked him, killing him on the spot.
As soon as the news of the incident was received, the forest personnel of the Belakoba range of Baikunthpur Forest Department reached the spot and chased the elephant toward the forest. Belakoba Ranger Sanjay Dutta said that apart from financial compensation to the family of the deceased, a family member would also be given a job.
