Elderly dies after being hit by train in Siliguri

Siliguri, 24th August: In a tragic incident an elderly man died after being hit by a running train on the Panchnai railway line under the jurisdiction of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police. The deceased has been identified as Sushil Sarkar.


As per reports, Shushil, along with his wife worked as caretakers in a residence located in the Pramod Nagar area in Siliguri. On Thursday evening, the elderly went to a shop to drink tea. During this, while crossing the railway line he was hit by the speeding Capital Express train due to which he died on the spot.

Upon receiving the news, teams of Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrived at the spot, recovered the deceased body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for autopsy. Currently, the matter is under further investigation.
