Siliguri, 07th June: Eight suspected Bangladeshi nationals were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Siliguri Junction Railway Station.
According to officials, the operation was carried out as part of routine security checks at the station. After the arrival of the Radhikapur–Siliguri DEMU train (No. 75707) at Platform No. 5, security personnel stopped nine youths on suspicion and questioned them regarding their identity and travel documents.
Following the inquiry, eight of the youths were taken into custody, while one individual was released.
During interrogation, the detained youths reportedly identified themselves as residents of Bangladesh. However, they were unable to produce valid identity documents, passports, visas, or any other papers authorizing their entry or stay in India.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals are from different areas of the Rangpur and Dinajpur districts of Bangladesh.
The arrested persons have been identified as Kamal Chandra Roy, Sanjit Roy, Titan Chandra Roy, Jayanta Roy, Gobinda Chandra Roy, Abhishek Roy, Saurabh Roy, and Md. Momin. Their ages are reported to be between 15 and 25 years.
GRP officials stated that a case has been registered against the accused for allegedly entering India illegally. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the case and to examine any additional links or developments.
