EC’s Special Observer Vivek Dubey arrives in Cooch Behar to probe BJP leader’s death

Cooch Behar, 26th March: The state Election Commission dismissed District police Superintendent K Kannan after the body of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was found hanging from a noose in Dinhata.


Special Police Observer of the Election Commission Vivek Dubey arrived in Cooch Behar on Friday afternoon to probe the matter. He headed to Cooch Behar Circuit House and held a meeting at Utsav Auditorium Hall. The meeting was attended by various district officials, police officials, and health department officials.

It is to be noted that the BJP Mandal president Amit Sarkar was found hanging from the noose on the balcony of a veterinary clinic adjacent to the BJP party office in the Dinhata Dakbanglo Para area on Wednesday morning. The atmosphere in Dinhata boiled up following the incident. Addressing the media, Vivek Dubey said that he has arrived to check the progress of the investigation.
