Rajganj, 16th March: Residents of the Baravita area of Majhiyali gram panchayat in Rajganj are facing immense inconvenience since Tuesday night after a dumper collided with an electricity pole, disrupting the power supply.
According to local sources, a sand-laden dumper crashed into the pole due to which three more consecutive poles collapsed. Immediately the electric wire caught fire. The locals used sand to bring the fire under control. The incident caused a great stir in the whole area.
Upon receiving the news, the police rushed to the spot, seized the dumper, and took the driver to the police station. At night, the power department personnel cut off the power supply. Residents demanded that the administration immediately restore the normal power supply.
Rajganj police said that the vehicle was seized and the driver was arrested. He was sent to Jalpaiguri court today.
