Siliguri, 27th January: Another drug smuggler was arrested by the police of Siliguri police station on Thursday. They have apprehended MD Jahangir, the right hand of drug smuggler Tamanna from the area adjacent to Fuleswari market.
Reportedly, the Siliguri police station received a tip-off that MD Jahangir had reached a deserted place some distance away from Fuleswari market on Thursday evening with brown sugar for smuggling. After this, the police in of Siliguri police station arrested MD Jahangir by running a campaign. On conducting a search, 260 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession of which the estimated market value is around Rs 4 lakh. After this, the police arrested MD Jahangir by registering a case under the NDPS Act. The accused has been produced in the Siliguri court today.
According to the information, MD Jahangir is a resident of Ward No. 4. Jahangir and was a close aide to drug kingpin Tamanna at one point. Jahangir was working with Khairul Nisha after Tamanna left Siliguri. Later, Jahangir parted ways in the smuggling business and ultimately a tiff arose between Khairul and Jahangir several times. The police are probing the entire matter.
