Siliguri, 26th February: A drug peddler was caught red-handed while delivering brown sugar in Siliguri. The accused, identified as Lalu, is reportedly a resident of Malda.
According to sources, Lalu had traveled from Malda to Siliguri for drug smuggling. Acting on a tip-off, the Matigara police conducted a raid at Simultala in Khaprail. During the operation, they detained Lalu on suspicion and conducted a search.
A packet of brown sugar, weighing 202 grams, was found in his pant pocket. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees. Following the recovery, the accused was immediately arrested.
On Wednesday, Lalu was presented before the Siliguri court, where the police sought his remand. Further investigations into the case are underway.
