DRI arrested one person with gold worth Rs 94 lakhs at NJP Railway station

Siliguri, 27th October: A team of DRI once again foiled plan of gold smuggling. Reportedly, the team conducted a campaign after receiving tip-off and arrested a person smuggling gold biscuits at the NJP Railways Station.


The said arrested person has been identified as Pappu Kumar Soni, a resident of Bihar. As per the information received from the team, they conducted a raid in a train that was heading from Agartala at the NJP railway station.

Acting on suspicion the team searched Pappu Soni and recovered 16 pieces of gold biscuits. On failing to produce documentation and paperwork in relation to the gold Pappu Soni was arrested by the team. The total weight of the recovered gold biscuits is said to be 1kg 855gm of which market value is estimated to cross above Rs 94 lakh.
