DRI arrested four people with gold over Rs 52 lakh from Dalkhola

Siliguri, 08th September: The DRI team has once again busted gold smuggling and arrested four people from Dalkhola toll plaza. The four accused have been identified as Aman Jaiswal (22), Sambhaji Uddhav More (37), Munna Prasad (39) and Raja Kumar (28). Aman, Munna, Raja are said to be residents of Bihar and Sambhaji is a resident of Maharashtra.


According to DRI, on Wednesday, based on a tip-off, the DRI team conducted an operation near the Dalkhola toll plaza. During this, on the basis of suspicion, the DRI team stopped and searched a four-wheeler vehicle. During the search, two pieces of gold biscuits were recovered from a special compartment inside the vehicle. After which four people inside the car were taken into custody. On asking for the paperwork of the said gold from the four accused, they failed to produce to the officials. 

The DRI arrested all four after registering a case under the Customs Act for smuggling gold. The weight of the seized gold is said to be 1 kg 55 grams and marked the market value of the seized gold to be Rs 52 lakh 97 thousand and 894. At the same time, the DRI today produced the four accused in the Siliguri court, where after hearing the arguments from both sides, the judge granted the bail plea of all four.
