DRI arrest man with gold worth over Rs 38 lakhs at NJP Station

Siliguri, 01st October: A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested a person with around 1 kg of gold before it could be smuggled. The arrested has been identified as Nikhil Chaudhary of Agartala, Tripura. 


According to DRI sources, Nikhil Chaudhary was travelling by Kanchenjunga Express train to Kolkata along with the gold. Acting on a tip-off, the DRI team arrested Chaudhary by campaigning at NJP station this morning. After nabbing the accused, 816.5 grams of gold biscuits were recovered from him. The market value of which has been estimated at Rs 38,43,347. The accused was produced in court today. 

After hearing the arguments of the government and the defence in the Siliguri court, the judge accepted the bail application of the accused.
