Mastermind arrested in Siliguri in minor trafficking attempt case

Siliguri, 24th August: Kharibari Police have arrested the alleged main mastermind of a human trafficking network in connection with an attempt to traffic a minor girl to Nepal on the promise of providing her with a job. The arrested accused has been identified as MD Moyuddin alias Mann.

According to information, police rescued the minor girl from the India-Nepal border on August 8 before she could be trafficked to Nepal. Acting on information received, police arrested a youth identified as Rabiul, a resident of Shantipara in NJP, in connection with the case.

The investigation was subsequently handed over to Nur Alam Siddique, Inspector of Kharibari Zone. During the investigation, police took Rabiul into custody for a total of eight days in two phases and questioned him about the case.

Based on the information obtained during interrogation, police arrested another accused, identified as Karan, from Siliguri. He was also taken into police custody and questioned.

According to police sources, information obtained from both accused helped investigators trace the alleged main mastermind of the trafficking network. Based on information received through sources, a police team arrested MD Moyuddin alias Mann from Siliguri.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections related to human trafficking. He was produced before the Siliguri court on Monday, following which the court granted six days of police remand.

Police are now questioning the accused during the remand period to gather further information about the alleged trafficking network and identify others involved in the case. The investigation is underway.
