Darjeeling, 19th December: A historic moment in Darjeeling Hills as Kalimpong College Principal Dr Rajendra Prasad Dhakal gets appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the Darjeeling Hills University. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took to Twitter to make the announcement.
Dr. Rajendra Prasad Dhakal, Principal, Kalimpong College, is appointed as first Vice Chancellor of the Darjeeling Hills University, for a period of four years or till he attains the age of sixty-five years, under section 64(4) of Darjeeling Hills University Act, 2018.

In his tweet the Governor wrote, “Dr. Rajendra Prasad Dhakal, Principal, Kalimpong College, is appointed as first Vice Chancellor of the Darjeeling Hills University, for a period of four years or till he attains the age of sixty-five years, under section 64(4) of Darjeeling Hills University Act, 2018.”
It is to be noted, a year ago the Governor gave assent to a bill to rename Greenfield University as the Darjeeling Hills University. The change was effected keeping in view the demand from local people to alter the name of the institute.
Great News. Finally, the University is going to get its shape.
