Siliguri, 03rd June: Large numbers of devotees gathered at the Dagapur Temple in Siliguri on the occasion of the 136th Tirodhan Utsav of Baba Loknath.
As in previous years, the temple committee organised special religious rituals, puja, bhog distribution, a fair, and cultural programmes to mark the occasion. The temple premises remained busy with devotees from the morning hours.
Temple authorities said arrangements had been made for devotees to offer ‘anjali’ throughout the day. Special pujas dedicated to Baba Loknath, bhog offerings, and prasad distribution were also organised as part of the celebrations.
Various facilities were put in place for devotees arriving from different areas to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, temple committee member Subrata Saha said that the annual Tirodhan Utsav was being observed with the customary religious rituals, including puja, anjali, bhog offerings, and other ceremonies.
He, however, noted that the turnout of devotees till the afternoon appeared lower compared to previous years. According to him, disruptions in connectivity and transportation may have contributed to the comparatively smaller crowd, although the temple authorities remain hopeful of a larger turnout later in the day.
