Dengue awareness rally organized by the Ward No. 29 committee of Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th November: CPI (M) councillors organized various programs today to spread awareness among the people about dengue. The spread of dengue is surging day by day in the city and slowly taking people in its grip. Many people have lost their lives even to the infection of the disease. Alleging the failure of Siliguri Municipal Corporation to tackle dengue, Left leaders and councillors organized various programs. 
Today, an awareness-oriented rally was organized under the aegis of the Ward No. 29 committee of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The rally commenced in front of the ward office and circumambulated different areas. During this leaflets were distributed along with spraying of bleaching and mosquito repellent oil and sanitized the area. 
In this regard, Left Councilor Munshi Nurul Islam said that the surge in cases of dengue has been on a constant rise each day and many people have died due to this. Munshi further alleged SMC’s lack of action and measures to control dengue. Having said this, the Left councillor also scrutinised Mayor Goutam Deb for the lack of initiative and for not taking action. He concluded by saying that everyone should come fore and work together to prevent dengue and cited as the reason for organizing the protest to make more and more people aware and prepare against the havoc of dengue.
