Delhi-like accident in Bagdogra, dumper dragged biker for 1 km after collision

Siliguri, 06th January: An incident like Delhi’s Kanjhawala accident, which shook all, took place on Thursday night near Gosaipur in Bagdogra. A dumper and a motorbike collided. After this, the bike rider, latched to the dumper, was dragged for almost 1 km due to which he lost his life.


The deceased has been identified as Anant Das. He was the BJP Booth President of No. 105 under Lower Bagdogra. Reportedly, Anant Das was returning home on Thursday night when a speeding dumper rammed into his bike from behind near Gosaipur. The collision was so severe that Anant got trapped under the dumper and was dragged by the dumper along with his bike about 1 km. Eventually, Anant Das fell in front of Gate No. 1 of North Bengal University. Due to which he died on the spot. Later, the bike and the dumper caught fire in front of the university’s Gate No. 2. On seeing the opportunity, the dumper driver fled away from the spot.

Soon after getting information about the incident, cops of Matigara police station and Bagdogra traffic police reached the spot. Simultaneously, two fire tenders also rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Police have launched a search operation for the dumper driver. Meanwhile, after the incident, an atmosphere of tension gripped the area. The residents objected to the reckless operation of dumpers on the road.
