Siliguri, 02nd September: The Detective Department (DD) conducted a raid in the Ghogomali area last night and arrested three people with a huge quantity of fake liquor. The arrested accused have been identified as Nitai Saha of Hakimpara, Partho Saha of Ward No. 45 Baghajatin Colony, and Subal Das of Ghogomali. Out of the three, Nitai Saha and Subal Das are the prime liquor dealers, while Partho Saha is a driver.
According to the information, the three were on their way to Fulbari carrying a huge quantity of fake liquor in a pickup van. The DD team, acting on a tip-off, stopped a white pickup van near Ghoghomali and searched the vehicle. During the search, a large number of liquor bottles were found inside the vehicle. However, when the driver was asked for the documents, he was unable to show any.
Following this, DD arrested the said three persons and handed them over to Bhakti Nagar police station. A total of 59 cartons containing 1,416 bottles of fake liquor were recovered from the pickup van. The market value of the recovered liquor is said to be around Rs 4 lakh. The arrested individuals will be produced at the Jalpaiguri court today.
