Siliguri, 25th March: The Darjeeling District Congress staged a sit-in protest in front of the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Health Department, alleging that patients are actually ‘looted’ in private nursing homes and diagnostic centers in Siliguri.
Darjeeling District Congress President Shankar Malakar was present during the demonstration, where he said that nursing homes and pathology centers are demanding inappropriately inflated bills from the patients’ families and that the district health department is not taking any initiative to prevent such incidents. The Darjeeling District Congress submitted a memorandum at the sub-divisional council demanding the intervention of the Chief Minister in this matter.
