Darjeeling district civil defense workers demand permanent jobs

Siliguri, 14th January: The state’s civil defense workers have raised voices demanding permanent jobs.


During a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists Club, Darjeeling district civil defense workers said that instead of COVID-19 vaccines, they want the CM to provide them permanent jobs.

Narottam Mandal, a member of the Civil Defense Volunteer Association, said that they are boycotting the vaccine and Corona warrior certificates. With a demand for permanent jobs, they are likely to stage a sit-in protest in front of the SDO office on January 18. Besides, the civil defense volunteers from all over the state will soon launch a Nabanna campaign.


Ujjwal Das, secretary of the Darjeeling District Civil Defense Volunteers Association, said that they get the opportunity to work only 2-3 days a month, due to which they unable to manage their expenses.

He further added that around 120 workers are associated with their association in the district. They will boycott the upcoming elections if their demands are not met.
