Fulbari, 26th July: A medicine trader was arrested after police seized around 2,600 intoxicating tablets during a raid at his residence in Fulbari, near Siliguri. The accused have been identified as Dilip Sarkar.
According to sources, a joint operation was conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the New Jalpaiguri Police Station in the Purba Dhantala area on Saturday. The raid, which continued from the afternoon until late at night, led to the recovery of around 2,600 intoxicating tablets from his house. Following the operation, the New Jalpaiguri Police arrested Dilip Sarkar on Saturday night.
Police suspect the seized tablets were intended for illegal distribution and are investigating whether other individuals were involved in the operation.
Dilip Sarkar was produced before the Jalpaiguri District Court on Sunday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
