CPI-M campaigned Borough office of SMC demanding control in dengue spread in Siliguri 

22nd September: The residents of Siliguri are in panic due to the surge in cases of dengue in the city. The cases are increasing day by day in the areas of Siliguri Municipal Corporation and also witnessing deaths due to dengue adding more terror among the people. On seeing the condition the Darjeeling district CPI(M) has demanded to bring an expert team to control the situation.


In regard to this demand, on Thursday, members of CPI(M) campaigned in Borough No. 01 office of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. After the demonstration in front of the Borough office, they also submitted a memorandum to the Borough officer. During this, the CPI(M) leader Mukul Sengupta said that during the time when his board was formed in Siliguri Municipal Corporation, they failed to receive any kind of support from the state government. As a result, he had trouble working. 

He further questioned the ruling party on why their corporation is behind in providing proper service to the people alleging no measures are been taken by the present SMC to curb the situation. He said that at present, there is a need for an expert team to control the dengue spread. If this team is brought in early, the dengue situation will come under control restoring the city back to normal.
