COVID-19 Second wave: Darjeeling reports 2 COVID deaths, Kalimpong reports 1

Darjeeling, 22nd April: With the advent of the second wave of coronavirus outbreak, a 52-year-old woman hailing from the Darjeeling hills passed away after testing COVID-19 positive.


According to Department of Health Darjeeling District Officer S. Chanda, the said woman from the Darjeeling Municipality area was brought to the hospital in critical condition last night. By the time she was admitted to the hospital, she was having trouble breathing and her physical condition was deteriorating. Acting promptly, the woman was given high-flow oxygen immediately, however, her health did not improve and she died a few hours later.

Reportedly, a woman from Sukhia Pokhari, who was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital after testing COVID-19 positive, died today while undergoing treatment. In addition to this, two people, including a 5-year-old child, have also been infected with the virus in Mirik.


Meanwhile, Kiran Rai, a resident of Sakyong in Kalimpong, has also been reported dead after testing COVID-19 positive. He was apparently admitted to a hospital in Siliguri after being infected and died while undergoing treatment.
