COVID-19 positive man from Jalpaiguri dies in a nursing home in Siliguri

Jalpaiguri, 28th June: A resident of Jalpaiguri Ward No. 25 Aurobindo Nagar breathed his last in a nursing home in Siliguri. The person was reportedly infected with the novel coronavirus.


According to the deceased’s family sources, the man was admitted to a nursing home in Siliguri following an illness, where he underwent treatment for 14 days. They claim that the deceased contracted the virus after being admitted to the nursing home.

It has been learned that the body will be cremated in Sahudangi as per the rules of the health department.


As per the report, the administrative officials, on Sunday, barricaded the deceased’s house and have declared it as a containment zone. The municipality workers have already initiated the process of sanitizing the locality.

Saikat Chattopadhyay, a member of the municipality administrative board, stated that the area has been declared as containment and buffer zone to prevent the further spread of the deadly virus.

    As per above reports, the deceased person infected after admission into Nursing Home. Why not Nursing Home be declared containment/buffer zone?

    True… If we are sick.. Best place to be is home.. Our public areas are risky… Hope.. Nobody needs to be hospitalised… I definitely don’t trust the hospitals or doctors or staff to show compassion and empathy towards patients
