Coronavirus scare: Helpline numbers launched for the tourists in Siliguri

Siliguri, 06th March: Due to the coronavirus scare, Sikkim has temporarily banned the entry of foreign citizens in the state. Meanwhile, Bhutan has also banned the entry of foreign citizens for 2 weeks as there have been reports of people suffering from the Novel Coronavirus in Bhutan as well.

A large number of Bangladeshi and Bhutan tourists had arrived at the Siliguri’s Sikkim National Transport (SNT) Bus Terminus, since morning, but no one owned a permission letter to travel to Sikkim. Hence, many tourists travelled to Darjeeling and Dooars instead of Sikkim.

During a press conference on behalf of the Himalayan Hospitality and Tourism Development Network, the tour operators stated that the Indian tourists need not panic. The hills are open for all the people. However, Bhutan is temporarily closed.

Besides, Helpline numbers (9434019880/9733533000/9434467236/7384049777) have also been launched for the convenience of the tourists.
