Coronavirus Pandemic: Minister Goutam Deb sheds light regarding the current situation

Siliguri, 21st March: During a press conference, today, the State Tourism Minister, Goutam Deb, informed that the India-Nepal border is open amidst tight security. 170 people have been sent back to Nepal within four hours. Two screening machines have been installed at the SSB camp in Panitanki, Nepal-India frontier area. People, coming from Nepal, are being allowed to enter India only after screening. Meanwhile, the same rules are being implied for the people entering Nepal.


Deb stated that miking is also being done at the India-Bangladesh border. All the works are being conducted by wearing masks and gloves. He further stated that if necessary, he will inspect the Medical Hospital, himself.

He further informed that the State Chief Minister has been working day and night to fight the coronavirus, so the citizens should take responsibility and stay alert. The Minister stated that the people returning from abroad should get their health examined and quarantine themselves. If the rules are not followed, the Administration will take action against them as directed by the Chief Minister.


The Minister has also requested the people to maintain order regarding the sanitizers, masks and food items. He stated that no problems regarding the food items have been witnessed yet. He further stated that Nursing Homes will be instructed to prepare isolation wards.
